LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sandra Bullock is facing a rough patch in her life. The award-winning actress has struggled to come to terms with the death of her longtime lover Bryan Randall, who died on August 5 at the age of 57 after a private three-year battle with ALS.

A source recently told a news outlet that Bullock, who adopted her son Louis, 13, and daughter Laila, 11, and later raised them with her late partner, is "struggling to stay strong, and picking up the pieces for her children."

Sandra Bullock 'hasn’t yet fully processed everything'

The insider noted, "The last few years have been incredibly stressful and heartbreaking for her — and Sandra hasn’t yet fully processed everything — but she’s slowly learning to manage her grief," as reported by Okmagazine

"They were as good as married, and he was the only father her children have known," the source said. Bullock's children, who were only about 3 and 5 years old when Randall entered their lives, continued to be his confidantes.

Sandra Bullock family is taking 'therapy'

The source spilled, "They’re all in therapy, and Sandra encourages them to talk about Bryan often, to keep his memory alive."

"It’s still very raw," the insider noted, as the family will soon have to face their first round of holidays since losing their loved one. "She appreciates all the love from fans and friends, but right now her focus is on her family."

"He was going to a better place," the source revealed, as Bryan was a devout Christian. "They all like to think he's watching over them."

Bullock's sister Gesine Bullock-Prado said, quite poetically, at the time of Randall's death, "I'm convinced that Bry has found the best fishing spot in heaven and is already casting his lure into rushing rivers teaming with salmon."

Source says Bryan knew that Sandra loved him dearly

In difficult times, the 'Lost City' star finds solace in "the knowledge that Bryan knew that she loved him dearly and did everything she could for him," the insider told US.

After learning that Randall had been diagnosed with ALS, his girlfriend decided to put her soulmate first and take a step back from her career. The source said, "She was completely devoted to him."
